"Coffee! You Can Sleep When You're Dead!" |
The platitudinous wall of Brewmen |
Brewmen’s interior is very much
rustic with many unique wooden details and cardboard signs. An eye-opener to
this café is the many bicycle hangers set-up for cyclists who frequent the
place. (Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any cyclists utilize this cool aspect of
the café.) A beehive-shaped rack, colorful coffee pictures and coffee bags make
this café a must visit for instagrammers and hipsters.
The rustic wooden atmosphere of Brewmen |
Personally, when I’m in Brewmen,
I try to stay away from the traditional, mundane coffee that they offer (such
as Lattes or Long Blacks). Instead, I tend to order from their “seasonal” menu.
This includes some of their popular drinks like Reverse Lattes, Espresso Bombs,
and Katy Perry. Now, you may start wondering, “What is he on about?”
(Top, Left to Right) Latte [RM 10], Katy Perry [RM 15], Cold Brew [RM 12] (Bottom, Left to Right) Red Affrogato [RM 12], Reverse Latte [RM 18] |
Katy Perry: A hot chocolate drink
with an ice-cold milk bottom - Patrons can either drink it without mixing (this
becomes more of a hot chocolate drink) or mix it up (turning the drink
into a more milkshake-like drink).
Reverse Espresso / Latte: This is
more of a slow drink for patrons who want to relax at Brewmens. You get to
control how concentrated the coffee is by adding milk (for latte) / water (for
espresso) to a frozen espresso ball (four shots).
Espresso Bomb: This is more of a fast drink. Much like a Jägerbomb, a shot of espresso is placed inside a cup full
of cold milk. As you drink this, the espresso will infuse with the milk in the
mouth creating a sensual feeling in the mouth.
Cold Brew: The Cold Brew made in Brewmen has a
lighter feel, with a mix of sweetness and low-acidity. Made using El Salvador
beans, this drink is very refreshing especially on hot days.
Red Affogato: Basically this is an Affogato
but instead of espresso, Brewmen replaces it with Rooibos
tea. Brewmen also serves normal Affogatos.
If you're not sure what to order, ask the baristas! They're very friendly! (Click to enlarge their "seasonal drinks") |
Besides their creative coffee, Brewmen also serves savories. These
include sandwiches, brownies and Waffles! (There are other items too, I just forgot! Will update the next time I visit.)
(Top, Left to Right) Philly Steak Sandwich [RM 11.9], Chicken Teriyaki Sandwich [RM 11.9] (Bottom, Left to Right) Waffles with Butter and Honey [RM 9], Brownie [RM9] [with Ice Cream RM12] |
Personally,
I felt that the Philly Steak Sandwich was the better of the two sandwiches that
Brewmen served. The Chicken Teriyaki was not as appetizing and felt very dry.
Sandwiches are served with Tomato flavored chips.
Brewmen’s
brownies are more cake-y than fudgy; they are warmed up when ordered.
Personally, eating their brownies without ice-cream, would make you very full. On the other hand, Brewmen’s waffles are crispy and savory. Despite waiting a long time for the waffles, it was still worth it.
Overall, I
feel that Brewmen was definitely one of the best cafés around Solaris Mont
Kiara (and there are many cafés around Solaris). The low-key café is sure to
pick up a lot more customers with its welcoming staff.
